Vegetable Buzz

Two weeks in and lots of greens have gone out to CSA members.  I hope you all are enjoying them as much as me.  If you are feeling overwhelmed, remember breakfast is the first meal of the day and a wonderful time to saute or steam some greens and lettuce is delicious with eggs.  Runny eggs, toast, lettuce, hot sauce every morning for me from now until December, and coffee of course.  OK I eat the occasional bowl of cereal, french toast or pancake breakfast but far prefer savory to sweet.

Bok choi, tatsoi, kale, swiss chard, four types of lettuce, spinach and scallions have left the farm so far.  No one has asked what do I do with this so I won’t go into elaborate recipes, I cook everything in butter actually with garlic, onions or scallions…  Any questions, send them my way.  Summer and fall shares still available and the High Falls Food Co-op is another way to get Slow Roots Farm vegetables.  Saugerties Farmers Market starts Saturday May 26 10am-2pm every week until mid-October.  See you soon.
