Transition

Scallions are like chili peppers, they really excite certain people.  I got a few comments of gratitude for the scallions this week and that feels really nice because they take a fair amount of energy to grow and clean up.  This time of year I want to chop up scallions and put them into everything.  If chilies don’t excite you, don’t worry you won’t be seeing them for a while.  They along with eggplant, tomatoes, sweet peppers, okra, cucumbers and summer squash will go in the ground this week.  This was the swing week in which about half of your vegetables came from the high tunnel and half came from outside, for the next few months everything will come from outside.  The tunnel is being filled with tomato and pepper plants, both heat loving crops that will hopefully thrive under cover.  The greens will continue to grow outside under the elements and will be a little more weathered as a result.     Thanks for participating in the experimental spring CSA, next week is the fifth and final spring pickup.  On Wednesday May 30th the summer season will begin and continue for 20 weeks.  Spots are still available and all remaining payments are due before the first pickup though inquiries for a pro-rated late start will be considered.  See you soon…
